The climate

Living in Thailand can be a challenge if you are having problems with the high humidity and temperatures above 30 degr C.

However, I have fouind out that the body changes over a year or so. And thereafter you can handle the heat a little more.

The problem in particular in Bangkok is more related to the combinition of heat, dust, noise and high humindity at the same time. That is frustrating. Nothing we can do with that.

Overall I enjoy the climate, as long as I stay away  from the direct sun and get a cool beer.....no worries mate.

Food in Thailand

Sea food is generally very good and tasty in Thailand. It is overall much more expensive to buy compared to pork, chicken or other type food in Thailand.

As posted on the Todays Picture, you can see how some of the fish is captured in klongs. it is astonishing how much fish which live in this muddy, contaminated waterways around Bangkok. Therefore it is used for food as well. I would not recommend that fish, it must be contaminated from the water.

However, there are a lot of fresh and very high quality fish captures in lakes, rivers and in the sea. Try the seafood on Sukhumvit soi 24 in Bangkok and you will be surprised by the quality.

Chicken and pork dishes are made in curry og chili and are excellent food. Some hot some not hot. It is up to you....

Give the Thai food a try, you will may be a true lover of the excellent food available here in Thailand. I have.

Bangkok traffic

I have been driving in Bangkok for 5 years and have some experience from what is going on there. Patience is the first part you need to get a lot of, then your will be quite OK.

You will experience most drivers behave quite good in terms of NOT using  the horn or giving you the finger...

However,..........if you are first, big, strongest and can find a spot to put the car they will do...  So just accept that as a fact and behave in the same manner if you want to get home for supper.

Look out for the motorbikes, they are dangerous, are thinking they can survive anything and will come like rockets from behind, against you, on the street shoulder. But most of them stop for red lights since the police are watching on every corner.

Have your money ready for the police officer stopping you. That will happen sooner than you want to. It is a part of their income and how things work in Thailand. They will treat you well. If you get and official ticket, they will take your driving license and give you a receipt and you will have to pick up the license at the local police station the day after (in the area where you got the ticket) after having paid the Farang official rate of about 400 Baht.

I have enjoyed driving around Bangkok and Thailand, but only after I got loaded with a lot of patience. Traffic will not flow quickly in Bangkok, I don not think ever. Plan you time moving from one point to another.

A walk or using the Skytrain/Subway is actually the best.
